Barbara Grace Gates, 92, of Del Norte, Colorado, peacefully passed away on June 23, 2026, in  Monte Vista, Colorado. Barbara was born on January 23, 1934, in Osborne, Kansas, to Russell and Grace Crawford. As a young girl, her family moved to Del Norte, Colorado, where she fell in love with the mountains, put down roots, and spent the rest of her life.

Quincy Batson Cornelius, 78, died Tuesday, June 9th, 2026, at his home in Escondido, Calif. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Cornelius, and son, Ryan Cornelius; his siblings, Cathy Jacobson, Connie Cornelius (Dave Ashby), Peggy Cornelius, Carol Sharp, Claudeen German (Neal), and Pauline Carter (Steve); his brother-in-law John Whitcomb and Quincy’s 10 nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and -nephews.

Janet Elaine Worth Schmidt, a beloved musician and cherished member of the Homelake community, peacefully passed away on June 16, 2026, at the age of 87, after a life filled with music, love, and selflessness. Born on August 2, 1938, in Monte Vista, Colorado, Janet was the eldest of three daughters, and her deep bond with her father shaped her compassionate spirit that touched the lives of many.

Valdez, a devoted son, steadfast friend, and cherished member of our community, who left us unexpectedly on June 23, 2026, at the age of 34. Born on January 2, 1992, Jacob was a lifelong resident of Alamosa, Colorado, where he embraced life with an unwavering spirit and served as an inspiration to those fortunate enough to know him.
