SOUTH FORK – With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner, South Fork is gearing up for its annual Yuletide celebration that will kick off Saturday, Nov. 30, at dusk. As the sun sinks low behind the San Juans, South Fork will flip the switch from fall to winter as they light up their town center with colorful lights, fun displays and a visit from Santa and his elves.

The South Fork Friends Foundation has spent the past several years working to cultivate this event, bringing a touch of Christmas to the area for all to enjoy. Thanks to several donors throughout the years and the hard work and dedication of countless volunteers, the annual Yuletide celebration has taken hold in the community and is something the Valley looks forward to each and every year.

Beginning earlier in the day, the annual Winterfest and Craft Show will be open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Rio Grande Club and Resort located just outside of South Fork. This event features vendors selling different wares and is an excellent place to find the perfect holiday gift for family and friends.

Over 25 vendors are scheduled to fill two floors of the resort’s clubhouse and will be offering everything from homemade soaps, crafts and delicious treats for all to enjoy.

As the day comes to a close, people are encouraged to head to the South Fork Visitor Center, 28 Silver Thread Lane, where they can enjoy a warm bonfire, delicious food and fun for the whole family. The lighting of over 50 Christmas trees throughout the property caps off the night.

The fun doesn’t end there. People can stay and visit with friends, neighbors and family while children visit with Santa Claus and his elves.

The South Fork Friends Foundation is still seeking volunteers for this event. For more information or to volunteer, contact the South Fork Friends Foundation at 719-342-6880 or by email at southforkfriendsfoundation@gmail.com.
