ALAMOSA — San Luis Valley Trout Unlimited would like to invite all interested individuals to join us at our monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, at the Alamosa Senior Center, 92 Colorado Ave., Alamosa.

“We are very excited to have well known fly tyer, artist, fishermen and professor Ken Iwamasa from Salida presenting a program on ‘Baetis Mayflies and Their Importance on the Arkansas River’,” organizers stated. Ken will discuss the results of his two-year study of the baetis mayfly hatches of the Upper Arkansas River. Ken will cover the seldom reported nymphs, duns and spinners of the hatches, and why the baetis mayfly is important to the riparian habitat and to anglers. He is a retired Professor of Art at CU Boulder and an environmental artist. He has exhibited in more than 20 solo regional, national and international exhibitions including disciplines of drawing, painting, prints and digital photography. His fly-fishing resume includes Orvis Fly Fishing instructor. He's included in many books, reviews and published articles in France, Japan and the US. Ken is the author of Iwamasa Flies and former associate director of Fly Fishing Japan Edition.

As always, the meeting is open to the public. For more information, call 719-588-7678.

Trout Unlimited’s mission is to bring together diverse interests to care for and recover rivers and streams so our children can experience the joy of wild and native trout.
