Neal Keith Mortensen, age 60, of Ulysses, Kansas, passed away on June 11, 2026. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Neal was a faithful disciple of Christ, a devoted husband, loving father, a man of remarkable character, and a true friend to all.
Born on September 20, 1965 in La Jara, Colorado, Neal lived a life defined by boundless energy and a deep devotion to God and his family. Whether he was testifying of Christ, working hard, playing sports, picking a fight (water fights), or satisfying his love for all things fast, Neal approached every single day with positivity and a smile. He had a rare gift for making everyone around him feel special, and he brought joy and fun to every room he entered.
While his amazing life was cut far too short, Neal's legacy of love, faith, and adventure will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
Neal is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; his children: Alyssa Lindstrom, Bridian Molin, J ace Mortensen, Kenyan Mortensen, Aria Mortensen, Elaina Halverson, Steven Harker, and Angela Harker; six grandchildren: Berlin, Oslo, Marseille, Gracie, Cairo, and Finnley; six brothers and sisters: Lois Miller, Dixie Hutchins, Gordon Mortensen, Marsha Aland, Peggy Haynie, and Rod Mortensen; and loving extended family and friends.
Neal was preceded in death by his daughter, Jada Mortensen, his father, Albert Mortensen, mother, Kathleen Poulson, brother, Monty Mortensen,and sister, Tamara Mortensen.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, 11 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 755 Main Street, Sanford, Colorado, followed by interment at the Sanford Cemetery, 17001 Co.
