ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School boys soccer team finished the season on a high note as a late goal gave the Mean Moose a 3-2 win over Lake County Thursday at the AHS stadium.

“It was great to see them come together,” said Alamosa coach Hector Ramos Garcia. “We hardly knew each other, so it’s great to build the camaraderie that we have on this team.”

The Mean Moose drew first blood as Gabriel Mora scored off a Juan Gonzales Ramirez assist. The Panthers, however, tied the score just three minutes later on a Juan Mier goal with Ociel Perez getting credited with the assist.

Gonzales Ramirez put Alamosa back into the lead in the 37^th minute with Jonah Pittman getting the assist and the Mean Moose led 2-1 at halftime.

Lake County tied the score again in the sixth minute of the second half with Zuriel Ramirez scoring. Mier had the assist on the play.

The Mean Moose missed several opportunities late in the game including a missed penalty kick.

Alamosa finally took the lead as Mora scored on a breakaway with 1:59 left in the game. Gonzales Ramirez was credited with his second assist of the game.

Alan Alba Loya had three saves as the Mean Moose’s goalkeeper.

Alamosa outshot the Panthers 14-6. The Mean Moose also had eight corner kicks compared to only three for Lake County.

Alamosa finishes the season with a record of two wins, 12 losses and one draw. It won two of its final three games of the year.

The Mean Moose lose only two seniors to graduation.

“Hopefully, we can continue into next year with the young team that we have,” Ramos Garcia said.
