All three teams split at six-man All-Star Classic

ALAMOSA – The 2026 Colorado-Kansas All-Star Game took place Saturday at Adams State University’s Rex Field with all three teams winning a game and losing one.

The Kansas All-Stars opened the day with a 16-8 win over Colorado North in overtime. Colorado South then defeated Kansas 16-6 in the second game, and the day wrapped up with Colorado North defeating Colorado South, 31-12.

Kansas 16, Colorado North 8

Kansas had the ball first and wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Skyler Thimesch scored on a 34-yard touchdown run, and Gavin Thalheim kicked the conversion (worth two points in 6-man football), and Kansas led 8-0.

The Colorado North tram scored on its first possession to tie the score. Austin Hornung took the snap and he pitched to August Filter. Filter then pitched to Scot Francis who took the ball 10 yards for a touchdown. Filter kicked the conversion.

Colorado North attempted to score just before halftime as Francis pitched to Horning and he then threw to Filter on the slant. Filter went 51 yards but was tackled at the 5-yard line just as time expired.

Colorado North had the first possession in the second half and it drove all the way to the Kansas 10. However, Hornung was stripped sacked by Thimesch to end the threat.

Kansas also had a potential scoring drive by it stalled at the 9-yard line. Thalheim attempted a 26-yard field goal, but it was wide left.

Colorado North attempted another scoring drive as it advanced to the Kansas 4. However, Hornung’s pass to the end zone was incomplete and the game went into overtime.

Kansas had the ball first in the overtime and scored as Nick Cottrell threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Thalheim. Thalmhem kicked the point after.

Colorado North was pushed back on an illegal Block penalty and it eventually came up short.

Kansas was led by Thimesch who ran the ball 16 times for 123 yards. Cottrell completed three of six passes for 20 yards. Thalheim caught one pass for 12 yards, Thimesch had one catch for six yards, and Owen Hammond had a reception for two yards.

Leading Colorado North was Hornung who completed seven of 13 passes for 105 yards. Filter completed his only pass for 20 yards. Francis was the leading rusher with 43 yards on six carries, and Yost had 41 yards on nine carries. Yost also led in receiving with five catches for 33 yards. Yost had one catch for 51 yards, Jayden Mingee had one for 21 yards, and Hornung had one for 20 yards.

Kansas again had the first possession, but this time it came up empty.

Colorado South wasted little time getting on the board as Jaydn Martinez threw a 47-yard touchdown to Maddox Gourley. Rolando Najera kicked in the conversion for an 8-0 lead.

Kansas attempted a scoring drive later in the first half, however, Thimesch fumbled the ball away at the Colorado South 9.

Colorado South also attempted a scoring drive late in the first half, but it turned the ball over on downs at the Kansas 15.

Colorado South made another potential scoring drive to begin the second half, however, it fumbled at the Kansas 2.

Kansas finally got on the board midway through the second half. Gavin Alloway scored on a 1-yard touchdown run, but Thalheim’s extra point attempt was blocked.

Colorado South put the game away on its next possession. Will Doherty scored on a 5-yard touchdown run and Najera again made the point after.

Kansas made one last chance to score but Martinez intercepted Cottrell.

Martinez led Colorado South as he completed four of five passes for 52 yards and he also ran for 35 yards on two carries. Thomas Griffin Jr. led the South team in rushing with 98 yards on 10 carries, and Trey Scheler had 66 yards on six carries.

Carlos Lopez led in receiving with two catches for 12 yards. Gourley had one catch for 42 yards.

Cottrell led Kansas as he completed four of eight passes for 97 yards. THalheim had one catch for 40 yards, and Xander Christensen had one for 29 yards. Thimesch led in rushing with 59 yards on 11 carries.

Colorado North 31, Colorado South 12

The South team had first possession, but Martinez was intercepted by Francis. The North had the ball in good field position, but a penalty pushed it back and it turned the ball over on downs. The North finally got on the scoreboard as Hornung threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Korbin Segelke. The point after attempt was blocked.

The South got deep into the North’s side of the field as it advanced to the 1-yard line. However, J.D. Brewer fumbled the ball away.

The North scored on the final play of the first half as Francis ran 49 yards for a touchdown. The kick was blocked again.

The North scored on the first play of the second half as Logan Don Vallier had a 42-yard touchdown run. The pass attempt on the conversion was unsuccessful and the North led 18-0.

Carson Helling increased the lead to 24-0 with a 3-yard touchdown run. The point after again was no good.

Mason Merriott put the South deep into North territory with a 39-yard pass to Najera. But Merriott was intercepted by Hornung who returned the pick 79 yards for a touchdown. Vallier ran in the conversion (worth one point in six-man).

The South got on the board as Doherty ran 19 yards for a touchdown. The pass was no good.

Martinez wrapped up the scoring with a 20-yard touchdown run on the last play of the game. The pass was unsuccessful.

Martinez led the South’s running game with 65 yards on six carries, and Scheler had 44 yards on three carries. Brewer led in passing as he completed one of four passes for 45 yards. Marriott completed one of two passes for 39 yards, Doherty completed his only pass for 31 yards, and Martinez completed two of 13 passes for 15 yards.

Najera led in receiving with two catches for 43 yards. Samuel Wright had one catch for 45 yards, and Scheler had one for 31.

Francis led the North with 82 yards on five carries, Vallier had 51 yards on three carries, and Yost had 39 yards on seven carries.

Hornung completed one of three passes for 13 yards. Segelke had the only reception.
