ALAMOSA – The Colorado High School Activities Association released its All-State boys golf teams on Oct. 10 with three Monte Vista student-athletes receiving recognition in Class 2A.
Two of the Pirates were placed on the first team in senior Kaden Mellott and sophomore Connor Mellott. Both Mellott brothers tied for ninth place at the Class 2A State Tournament which took place Oct. 7-8 at The Club at Rolling Hills in Golden. Both shot a two-day total of 163.
The other Monte Vista Golfer, senior Liam Ellithorpe, was a second team selection. He tied for 13th place with a 165.
The Pirates finished second at the state tournament. It was the inaugural Class 2A State Tournament as CHSAA created the classification this year.
Strasburg’s Kameron Gilbert was named the Class 2A boys Golfer of the Year, while Golden View Classical Academy’s Chris Todd was the Coach of the Year.
