ALAMOSA — The SLV Teen Prevention Coalition had a celebration on Friday, honoring Hiliana Baroz, Myissa Duran, Stefany Moreno and Leilany Soto who completed 75 volunteer/community service hours as part of the Prevention Program with the SLV Teen Prevention Coalition.
Part of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley, the goal of the SLV Teen Prevention Coalition is to build a strong coalition of youth and adults working together to reduce youth substance use by reducing risk factors in the San Luis Valley while centering youth voice and authentic engagement in the process.
“Myissa is now in her third cycle, Hiliana and Leilany are on their second cycle,” says Nancy Molina. “Collectively, the teens past and present have contributed 600 hours meeting authentic community needs.”
Molina is the Prevention Specialist/Drug Free Communities Director who is largely spearheading this innovative program.
