Ruybal having fantastic season

Asher Ruybal, a third grader at Bill Metz Elementary School in Monte Vista, is a two-time state champion and has won eight national tournaments. Recently, he won the RMN Monster Match Nationals in Denver at 69 pounds, and the RMN “Who’s Bad” in Pueblo at 69 pounds, He also placed third at USA Wrestling’s “King and Queen of the Mountain” at 71 pounds. He also placed first at the Peak2Peak league championship and qualified for the Peak2Peak league championship in Castle Rock on Jan. 24. This week, he will compete at the Tulsa Nationals, which is considered one of the toughest youth tournaments in the country and will be wreslting in the 8A 75-pound bracket. Ruybal wrestles for the San Luis Valley Wrestling Club out of Sargent and for Steel City Reloaded Wrestling Club out of Pueblo.
