Kaden Mellott medals at Rye Invitational

Pirates finish in second place

ALAMOSA – The Monte Vista High School boys golf team finished in second place at the Rye Invitational Thursday at Hollydot Golf Course in Colorado City.

The Pirates finished with a score of 234, which was two strokes behind the champion Montezuma-Cortez.

Leading Monte Vista was Kaden Mellott who was the individual medalist with a one-over-par72. Liam Ellithorpe and Connor Mellott tied for ninth as both shot an 81, and Jakoby Ross tied for 37th with a 93.

Alamosa and Del Norte also competed at the tournament.

The Tigers placed 17th with 315 and they were led by Tytus Atencio who tied for 55th with a 101. Landan Velasquez tied for 57th with a 102, Trenton Woolf tied for 75th with a 112, and Noah Bailey tied for 77th with a 118.

The Mean Moose were 19th with 327. Jace Sanchez and Jaron Mason tied for 60th with a 104, Kyan Mason was 79th with a 119, and Perry DiCamillo who was 77th with a 122.
