Longtime Monte Vista resident JoAnne Grace Medina passed away on Aug. 30, 2022, at UC Health Hospital in Colorado Springs surrounded by loved ones. She was born Sept. 2, 1948, in Alamosa, Colo., to Rose P. Martinez and Benito Martinez.
JoAnne was the truest matriarch of her family of which was her pride and joy. A true Christian and believer in God she led her life being selfless and loving without condition.
JoAnne was a woman of many talents and hobbies which included being an amazing cook and baker, novel reader, embroiderer, seamstress and crocheter. JoAnne loved to spend her time gardening during her summers and enjoying the outdoors.
Anyone that knew JoAnne knew that her home was always open for conversation and her fridge always full of meals to comfort you. A truer friend and kinder person could not exist.
JoAnne is survived by her devoted son Peter Medina (Robert Brown), daughter Stephanie Molina, sisters Loretta Pacheco and Leola (Anastacio) Lopez, and brothers Ricky (Stella) Martinez and Gabel Vigil, grandchildren Tobias (Toby) Medina, Cassandra Medina (Paul Lince), Jennifer Delgado, Angelo Molina, Angelize Molina and great-grandchildren Elijah and JuliAnna Medina as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Tobias Medina, daughter Roseann Medina, mother Rose P. Martinez, father Benito Martinez, and brothers Leroy Martinez and Benito Martinez.
