Fabulous fall foliage

SAN LUIS VALLEY — This weekend promises to be a great time to get out and view the spectacular fall foliage. Colors in the mountains are popping with superb color at about 10,500-11,000 feet in elevation. There are plenty of colors at lower elevations.

In the San Juan Mountains, conditions are at a peak from Molas Pass to Silverton, Red Mountain Pass, and other areas. According to the U.S. Forest Service, the San Juan Byway is bursting with colors, especially north of Coal Bank Pass through Molas Pass all the way north to Ouray.

The Sangre de Cristo Mountains are a riot of autumnal pigmentation.
