ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School softball team learned in which regional it will compete on Monday as the Colorado High School Activities Association released the postseason brackets.
The Lady Mean Moose will compete in Class 3A Region 3 which will take place at University High School’s Twin Rivers Field in Greeley. They are the 14th overall seed and they will play 19th-seeded Cedaredge at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Should Alamosa win, it will not only compete for the regional championship against either third-seeded University or 30th-seeded Wray/Yuma at 2:30 p.m., it will also qualify for next week’s Class 3A State Tournament which will take place Oct. 24-25 at the Aurora Sports Complex.
All five teams in the Tri-Peaks League qualified to play in regional action with three teams hosting their regionals.
Fourth-seeded Lamar will host Region 4 at Citizens Field and it will face 29th-seeded Alameda. La Junta, the 20th seed, is also in this regional and it will take on 13th-seeded Delta.
Southeast Colorado is the fifth seed and it will host the Region 5 Tournament at Wiley High School. It will face 28th-seeded Limon, while 12th-seeded Peak to Peak will play 21st-seeded Brush.
Sixth-seeded Rocky Ford will host the Region 6 Tournament at Babcock Park. It will play 27th-seeded Sand Creek, while 11th-seeded The Classical Academy will play 22nd-seeded Meeker.
