Woof Creek Sled Dog race postponed until March 7

SOUTH FORK- The Friends of South Fork and the Rocky Mountain Sled Dog Club announced the second annual Woof Creek event has been postponed until March. The two organizations made the decision to postpone the event based on the lack of snow in the area and safety concerns.
“The organization takes into consideration the safety of the racers and their dogs before any event takes place and with the higher temperatures in South Fork over the past week, they decided that there just was not enough snow to host the race,” said Friends of South Fork member Kris Steffens. “One thing everyone needs to keep in mind with events like this is that it can be subject to change due to weather conditions. We still have an amazing event planned and now we just need everyone to hope for snow.”
The schedule for the Woof Creek Sled Dog and Skijor race remains the same and will include a weekend of family friendly fun in South Fork. As long as more snow comes to the South Fork area, the event will take place the weekend of March 7 and 8. The race will consist of 15 to 20 sled dog and skijor teams on a six mile course set up around the Rio Grande Resort and Club beginning at 9 a.m. each day.
Saturday evening there will be a Musher Madness Dinner at the resort which is open to the public featuring the Roadrunners who are providing live entertainment.
