South Fork welcomes new Police Chief

SOUTH FORK- The Town of South Fork has announced the hiring of their new Chief of Police Hank Weber. The town has been looking for a replacement Police Chief for the past few weeks and were able to make their final decision in a work session Oct. 13. The new Chief comes with a long history of experience in law enforcement and is ready to serve the South Fork community.

After vacationing in the area for several years, Weber and his wife decided that they would like to move to a place they could eventually retire and chose to call South Fork their new home. Weber has 21 years in law enforcement having achieved a master’s in Business Management from the Mid-American Christian University of Oklahoma City, OK and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He also received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management and Ethics from Mid-America Bible College also located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

“We absolutely love the great outdoors and are looking forward to living here and serving the community of South Fork. It is important for the community to know that I have an open-door policy and welcome anyone at any time. I will be spending the first few weeks in my new position to stop in and meet business owners and to meet the community as well. After I have everything settled, we will do a more formal event,” said Weber.

Since 2005, Weber has served for two other departments as Chief of Police in Oklahoma and is looking forward to getting to know his new surroundings. “I believe in service before self and that goes for both employees and community alike. My commitment is to the mindset that the police department is not segregated autonomously but rather a piece of the community.”

As part of his new role as South Fork Police Chief, Weber gave his first message to the community stating, “We would like to remind people to be vigilant and to especially remember to take the keys out of their ATV/OHVs. We have had some very nice machines disappear lately and just want to remind everyone to take their keys out.”
