South Fork hires new finance manager

SOUTH FORK— The Town of South Fork was pleased to announce on Monday, June 4 that they have officially hired a new finance manager. Hope Tonso has been in the South Fork area for the past three years after buying a small cabin with her husband. Tonso spent most of her life in the Valley working for Southway Construction Company in Alamosa and graduated from Adams State University.
In the 25 years Tonso worked for Southway Construction, she handled the company’s finances and human resource department even though she has a degree in psychology and education. “Sometimes the best way to learn is by being self-taught, and I have years of hands-on experience,” said Tonso.
Previous finance manager Amanda Hill left her position in South Fork about a month ago, having had a better opportunity out of state.
The town has been actively seeking a new finance manager since receiving Hill’s letter of resignation last month and it was the perfect opportunity for Tonso. “I have known Town Administrator Dan Hicks for many years and was asked to come in and interview for the position. I have only been on the job for about five days, but in that time, I have really enjoyed meeting all of the people and being involved in the community.”
Tonso also stated that her husband David Tonso was recently hired at the Rio Grande Club and Resort. “He was able to get the position as the golf pro up at the Rio Grande Club, and I thought it was perfect timing to try for the position at the town. I haven’t been here long, but I hope to improve on organization and help the people any way I can,” said Tonso.
Tonso will be available to help with any of the town’s financing at the town hall on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tonso also explained that though she is still learning the ropes, she will be helping with other town business in the future. Be sure to stop in and say hello!
