South Fork has Halloween events on tap

SOUTH FORK — With Halloween on a Monday this year, several area organizations and businesses are making plans for the upcoming weekend to ensure that the popular holiday gets a chance to shine throughout the San Luis Valley for youngsters and adults alike.

This weekend will be packed with spooky opportunities from local haunted houses, trunk-or-treats, costume contests and more.

On the western edge of the Valley organizations and businesses will be hosting their Halloween events on Saturday, offering countless opportunities to get out and enjoy some ghoulish fun.

The Rio Grande Club and Resort is featuring a Halloween Spooktacular event with a DJ, nacho bar, candy buffet and encourage attendees to dress for the holiday in fun, creative costumes. This event is on Oct. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Two Rivers BBQ in South Fork will also be hosting an adult Halloween party in the old Hungry Logger building located along Highway 160 in South Fork. The event will feature live music by Old School and a costume contest with a chance to win prizes. This is a 21-and-older event with a cover fee and doors open at 5 p.m.

The South Fork Fire Rescue’s Halloween Extravaganza kicks off the night of Halloween on Oct. 31 and includes fun activities for all ages, a costume contest for children and adults as well as candy galore. This event has taken place for several years and brings a crowd of ghostly participants every year. The event is at the South Fork Fire building in South Fork and doors open at 4 p.m. This is a free event.
