SOUTH FORK—The South Fork Fire Rescue held their first Halloween Extravaganza last Wednesday for the children and families in South Fork and the event was a hit. According to Public Information Officer Lynette Nye Schmidt the night was packed full of fun, games and trick or treating for all who attended.
The department planned an evening to remember and collaborated with local businesses and restaurants to offer food and fun for the entire family. There was a costume contest for children ages infant to 14 with prizes for each category. Prizes included bikes, trikes, ski rentals and more. In the infant to four-year-old category, first and second place winners went home with trikes donated by Mountain Skillz; first and second place winners in the five to nine-year old category went home with bikes donated by Rainbow Grocery.
The first-place winner in the 10 to 14-year old category won a free ski or snowboard rental donated by 8200 Mountain Sports as well as two tickets to Wolf Creek Ski Resort, while second and third place winners received one lift ticket to the resort. A huge thanks goes out to the business that donated to the costume contest from the department.
The night was also full of fun games for those who attended. There were three-legged races, bobbing for donuts hung by strings from the ceiling of the building, ski ball, trucks decorated in Halloween fashion for the children to trick or treat at and food donated by Two Rivers BBQ.
