S.F. Police Department welcomes new officer

The South Fork Police Department welcomed new Officer Lucas Brown who was sworn in on July 11.

SOUTH FORK— The South Fork Police Department is pleased to welcome new officer Lucas Brown to town. After months of searching, the department was more than happy to bring Brown on board and swore him into service on July 11.
Brown comes to South Fork with experience in infantry and has been an officer in Alamosa for several years. Police Chief Coty Arthur stated that the department is lucky to have an experienced officer like Brown join their team. “We are lucky to have him. Town has been very busy lately and that extra hand is going to make a huge difference for me and my officers. We will have more coverage throughout the entire day and that means a lot,” said Arthur.
Arthur and his crew have been running short-handed for some time and are still looking to fill additional part-time and full-time positions. The department has been busy working to revamp the police room located at town hall and having an additional officer on the crew will afford Arthur more time to focus on completing that project.
On an average, the department responds to more than 170 calls per month including traffic stops and neighborhood checks. Arthur and his team are continuing to work on establishing trust within the community, following in the footsteps of his predecessor Don McDonald.
“I think Brown will be a great asset to us and the community and we thank him for his service.”
Brown was sworn in by municipal Judge Don Allee.
