Rio Grande Hospital one of nations highest rated

DEL NORTE — The Federal Government’s Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its current 5-star rating, which was published January 2020. Rio Grande Hospital (RGH) scored high and was one of only two critical access hospitals in Colorado to achieve the top honors with this 5-star rating. The acknowledgment is awarded to a small percentage of hospitals nationally. RGH was among 12 Colorado hospitals to receive such accolades, and the only one in the San Luis Valley.
The rankings are based on seven measures: safety of care; readmission rates; patient experiences; effectiveness of care; timeliness of care; and efficient use of medical imaging.

The Colorado hospitals to receive the top rankings were:
Penrose-St. Francis Health Services (Colorado Springs)
Community Hospital (Grand Junction)
Medical Center of the Rockies (Loveland)
Mercy Regional Medical Center (Durango)
Montrose Memorial Hospital
Mt. San Rafael Hospital (Trinidad)
Parker Adventist Hospital
Poudre Valley Hospital (Fort Collins)
Rio Grande Hospital (Del Norte)
Rose Medical Center (Denver )
Sky Ridge Medical Center (Lone Tree)
