RGCM part of Blue Star Program

The Rio Grande County Museum (RGCM) is pleased to announce their participation in the nationwide Blue Star Program.

DEL NORTE— The Rio Grande County Museum (RGCM) is pleased to announce their participation in the nationwide Blue Star Program.
The Blue Star program is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and more than 2,000 museums across the United States.  This is the 10th season for this program and Rio Grande County Museum has participated for seven seasons. Many of the other San Luis Valley museums also participate in the program. For a listing of the participating museums, please refer to the San Luis Valley Museum Trail Association website.
The 2019 program will start on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 18 and runs through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2, 2019. As a Blue Star Museum, RGCM is part of a national appreciation program for military families and all those who have served our country through military service. Exhibits of the Civil War, World War I and the stories of the Rio Grande County servicemen who didn’t return home from  World War II will be included in the Armed Forces Day celebration.
Rio Grande County Museum is proud to be able to honor active and retired military along with those who served with this program and with proper documentation, the admission fee to the museum is waived. The museum extends this for the entire year.
