MONTE VISTA— Monte Vista resident Rebecca Sisneros, 96, went to her eternal rest on Aug. 28, 2018 with her loving family by her side.
Rebecca was born on Aug. 26, 1922 in El Rito, N.M., the daughter of David and Vitalita Lucero.
Recently celebrating her 96th birthday, Rebecca will always be remembered for her delicious cooking, her passion for doing crossword puzzles, watching her novelas and wrestling and she was a Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends; especially the warm embrace of her loving smile.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents David and Vitalita Lucero, husband Margarito Sisneros, sons Margarito Sisneros Jr., Danny Sisneros, Randall Sisneros, daughter Betty Sisneros, sister Della Naranjo, brothers Flavio Lucero, Nabor Lucero and Arturo Lucero.
Survivors include her daughters Mary (Lorenzo) Gomez of Center; Nelda (Elias) Martinez of Greeley, Colo.; Bessie (Nick) Cordova of Clifton, Colo.; Lucille Gomez of Saguache; Elaine (Jerry) Carroll of Monte Vista; Louise Gomez of Center; Louella (Bill) Martinez of Monte Vista; daughter-in-law Eurcilla Sisneros of Rangley, Colo.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Veronica Archuleta of Espanola, N.M. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary was held on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Mass of the Resurrection was held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, also at St. Joseph Church. Interment will follow at the San Luis Valley Cemetery.
