Letter to the Editor: Paccione announces candidacy

RIO GRANDE COUNTY- Fedele Paccione has announced his candidacy and intent to run for Rio Grande Commissioner.

“My name is Fedele Paccione, but ever since I was a child I’ve been known as Phil. I have a long and varied background in business, both large and small. In my early twenties, in addition to co-creating and owning an ambulatory transportation company as well as a modest construction company, I also worked for a prestigious university where I solicited road and construction bids for its three large campuses. I thoroughly embraced these positions where I nurtured my knowledge in financial management, the bid solicitation process, and working with government contracts.

In my spare time during my 20s (not that I had much) I took on the exciting and challenging task of a bail enforcement agent, locating individuals with delinquent bonds. I went on from there to negotiate a contract with the NY city taxi commission to repossess overdue taxi medallions.

Following my passion, I decided to move to Arizona where I opened a motorcycle shop which I owned and operated for 13 years, acquired my real estate license, and accepted a position teaching Harley Davidson Mechanics. In the early 2000s I achieved Harley Davidson’s highest recognition level a technician can attain as a Master of Technology.

In 2013 I was one of a small group of people nationwide to become recognized as a Certified Higher Education Professional by the National Association of State Administrators & Supervisors of Private Schools or NASASPS. This recognition I held until I decided to retire one month before turning 43 years old.

I have been elected vice president of the Rio Grande Sportsman’s Club for two years now and I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. I decided to come out of retirement last year and open a small business here in Del Norte, which has proved profitable in its first year, and just as with my other businesses, I plan to donate it to someone deserving here in Rio Grande County after I am elected County Commissioner.

I have much, much more I would like to tell you about my political views, and plans I have to address concerns the community has already brought to my attention during my campaign and via multimedia platforms.
