Kenneth Casey Nichols, 65

CREEDE—Kenneth Casey Nichols of Creede passed away suddenly on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 at the age of 65.

Casey was born to parents Henry and Gaynell Nichols on Oct. 1, 1952 in Flagler, Colo. He was the youngest of three and attended Peetz High School. After spending one year in Northeastern Junior College, Casey decided to join the Navy and spent four years perfecting his 'welding skills as a Hull Technician stationed on a Submarine Tender in Pearl Harbor, HI. He had made the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer when he got out of the Navy.

He was a man who enjoyed working with his hands and spent his adult life working as a welder and did maintenance work for the Creede Repertory Theatre and the Creede Community Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent countless hours rock hounding and arrow head bunting. Casey was described by his friends as a kind, caring man with a huge heart always willing to help anyone.

Casey was preceded by his mother, Gaynell Nichols and stepmother Joy Nichols.

He is survived by his father, Henry Nichols; his three children, Brittany Lynn Kamruddin

(Javed), Tiffany Marie Everett (John), Brandon Kyle Nichols (Kelley); his three sisters, Becky Nichols, Ruth Talbott and Robin Hilsabeck; his two brothers, Terry Wetherill and Mark Wetherill and one grandchild Kyla Everett.

Cremation was chosen. Friends and family are invited to attend Casey's celebration of life at the Creede Baptist Church on Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. The family will have a private burial ceremony at a later time.
