SOUTH FORK — Brittany Hathorn with EXIT Realty has opened a new location in South Fork and she plans on using her expertise in real estate is to bring people into the area and help those wishing to sell to make their dreams come true.

After moving to the South Fork area full-time in 2014 with her husband who grew up in the San Luis Valley and spent a considerable amount of time making South Fork her new home.

“I got into real estate in 2018 and was working with Steffens Realty Company,” Hathorn said. “I switched over to EXIT Realty who had an office in Durango. It was a lot to travel back and forth so when they opened an office in Pagosa Springs in 2020, I thought that it was time to open a branch in South Fork.”

At the end of 2021, Hathorn found a location that was just right for her new realty company and began the process of getting the small office located next to Rainbow Grocery and Hotel ready.

“The last few months we have been just getting ready to open and it has been a lot of work. We are located on the corner of Highway 160 and 149 right next to the Rainbow Hotel,” she said.

With her office up and running, Hathorn added to her crew bringing in local Linette Nye-Schmidt and Clint Wilson, both of whom have taken to real estate and are eager to start helping people regardless of whether they are selling or looking to buy.

“We plan on becoming part of the community," Hathorn said. "All of us are very community-oriented and we are looking forward to serving the community the best we can through fundraisers and sharing our knowledge of real estate.”

Hathorn plans to offer services through residential, commercial, vacant land, farm, and ranch listings.

“Our goal is to focus on the education of our agents so that they are as prepared to help sell or buy properties throughout the San Luis Valley no matter the circumstances," Hathorn said. "A lot of people who are looking to buy or sell have no idea what the process is or how it works, and we want to help them through it and to understand it.”

Hathorn believes in the Golden Rule when it comes to her business and plans to use it as a compass to help people through the real estate process.

“Our agents are very knowledgeable in contracts, and we want to know that our clients understand the process of real estate,” she said.

EXIT Silver Thread Realty opened its doors on Friday, March 18, and is ready to help with all local real estate needs. They can serve the Lake City, Creede, and South Fork areas and the entire San Luis Valley.
