Del Norte School honors Class of 2019

Del Norte School’s Class of 2019 celebrated with family and friends on May 24 as the last class to graduate from the old school.

DEL NORTE—The Del Norte Field House was packed full of family and friends gathered to honor the Class of 2019 on Friday, May 24. Those that were in attendance paused on their way to the doors leading into the gymnasium to look at the progress of the new school being constructed right across the street. The Class of 2019 will be the last class to graduate in the field house from the old school.
Teachers and administrators started off the night with a march down the aisle ahead of the graduates to Pomp and Circumstance and lined up on stage to welcome the Class of 2019 with cheers and applause. Principal Russell Randolph welcomed everyone and introduced the Junior and Senior Choir who graced the crowd with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.
After the choir was finished, Valedictorian Carlee Leroux spoke to her fellow students, thanking them for the time they have spent together and the memories they made as they grew up in the Del Norte School. “The memories we made together will never fade. The bonds we’ve made will never break.”
In following tradition, the seniors then took a moment to pass out flowers to their family and friends. During the heartfelt moment, tears of happiness and pride were shed by all and words of encouragement and wisdom were passed between parents and children, who are now becoming adults.
Scholarships were awarded to the following seniors: Michael McDermott received the Tucker-McDermott Foundation scholarship; Kim Krahn received a scholarship from the Del Norte Rotary Club; Larry Heersink received the Del Norte Masonic Lodge Scholarship: Stacy Gallegos was the 2019 recipient of the Del Norte Bank Scholarship: Bill Sauvigne was awarded the Jay Schrader Memorial Scholarship, the Doug Monter Memorial scholarship and the Pay it Forward Award.
Congratulations to the Class of 2019!
