Creede cancels ATV Rodeo, Mountain Run still on

CREEDE- Creede and Mineral County are preparing to say goodbye to summer and the coming fall is sure to be a great time for the entire family. As of right now, and everything is subject to change, Creede is planning on hosting their annual Labor Day festivities.

Labor Day weekend will be somewhat late this year and starts Friday, Sept. 4, in the evening with a concert being held by the Creede Repertory Theatre. The event will be at 6:30 in Basham Park located on Main Street in Creede. With all of the activities during this time, everyone who is in attendance will be required to wear a mask and keep to social distancing guidelines.

On Saturday, Sept. 5, participants in this year’s annual Mountain Run race may come to register for a 50k, 22 mile or 12-mile race. The race takes participants up into the San Juan Mountains, through the historical Bachelor Loop mining district and back down to the picturesque town of Creede. Participants are asked to wear face coverings when registering that morning.

Due to COVID-19, county and town officials have decided to cancel the Salsa Fiesta and the ATV Rodeo this year.
