ALAMOSA– Experience an exciting new form of theatre in which a series of one-act plays is created, written, cast, rehearsed, and performed within one 24-hour period.
Adams State University Theatre Department presents The 24-Hour Plays at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, in the Xperimental Theatre. The performance is free to the public with no tickets needed. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
“We are proud to be part of this international theatre project. Since the first set of 24 Hour plays in 1995, hundreds of time-limited productions have been created featuring theatre artists around the world,” said John Taylor, Ph.D., director of theatre.
Licensed participants have produced their own versions of The 24 Hour Plays in regional and professional theaters, colleges, and universities across the United States and other countries worldwide.
Beginning at 9 p.m. on Jan. 18, ASU theatre students will begin the process of creating six new 10-minute plays. Over the next 24 hours, these plays will go from words on the page to staged productions presented in front of an audience.
At the same time, art students will be taking part in 12-Hours of Art in their building. Their original works, created within a 12-hour time frame, will be on display in the Theatre Building Lobby from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
“We are excited to take on this project as a way to celebrate creativity, collaboration, and the power of live performance. As well, it continues our program’s tradition of participating in national and now international theatre projects,” said Taylor.
